Katie Harling-Lee is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow (2025-28) at the University of Edinburgh. Having taught previously at Durham University and Edinburgh Napier University, she was an Early Career Teaching Fellow in English Literature at the University of Edinburgh in 2025, during which she acted as Course Organiser for 'The Making of Modern Fantasy' module, which introduced students to the early fantasy authors of the 19th and 20th centuries, including William Morris, George MacDonald, and Lord Dunsany. She draws together her previous expertise in the two distinct areas of Old Norse literature and Modern and Contemporary literature to bring a Medievalist informed approach to modern fantasy texts, alongside her highly interdisciplinary approach to literary research, using relevant areas of musico-literary and theological studies to enlighten literary readings of these foundational fantasy texts.
