Megan Laybourn is a PhD student with a focus on modern Arthurian literature. They hold a BA (Hons) in English Literature and History from Northumbria University, a PGCert in Arthurian Literature from Bangor University and an MA in History from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Megan investigates the ways in which fan fiction queers the Arthurian tradition. By approaching fan materials as works of medievalism, and examining them through a queer lens, their research considers how the Arthurian narrative - and certain cultural normativities - are open to refraction and subversion through the transformative and transtemporal nature of Merlin fan fiction.
